GR-2s bouncy after 45k on stock springs, what next? (DA)
So, after about 45k on my GR-2s they're getting awfully bouncy. I really don't like the bounce, so I'm looking to replace them. However, if I lower the car it's going to scrape WAY too much - I put on some feelers that are about 1.5" lower than the car, and they scrape quite frequently (many driveways I can't get into/out of without scraping some of them). Yes, I'm sure I'm on stock springs - I've got basically a 4 finger wheelgap all around, on 205/50R15s.
So, any recommendations for what to try next? The car was my dad's back when the GR-2s went on, probably 4-5 years ago. At this point I put 20k+ on it a year, and don't want to be replacing the shocks every 2 years. I beat the hell out of the suspension at times, which I'm sure is a decent bit of why it wore out quickly - but considering my dad didn't really, a new set of GR-2s would most likely go even faster. Some of this is because a lot of the fun roads around here are in HORRIBLE shape, some of it is because my daily commute involves potholes at 75mph, and too many of them for me to avoid without looking like I'm drunk.
If there were Koni reds available for the DA, I would buy them without a second thought - but there aren't. What similar options are there that should last a while? I'd also like it to stay reasonably comfortable, it is a DD and I drive it quite a bit.
thanks for any help

I have stock springs on Koni Sport yellow shocks and I love 'em. The Konis currently have well over 155,000 miles on them. I put them on my car when I first lowered it on H&R springs back in February 2002.
so yellows aren't too bad to DD on with shitty roads? how harsh is the ride vs stock?
edit: also, on koni's site it seems to imply that the yellows at least can lower the car. can they be set up for stock ride height though?

Yeah the shock body has different grooves where a snap ring can fit into, and then the spring perch fits on the snap ring.
Some applications have a stock height setting and also lower, and some have stock and both higher and lower.
For DC Integras, the front shocks can lower about 1" and the rear shocks about 5/8".

illuminas.
i dont recommend koni yellows on stock springs. not enough compression damping. and cant adjust compression.
i have illuminas with stock springs. i like it like that for the clearance and comfort. i get better handling with my 22mm rear sway alone. fine for the daily, thats all i use the car for.

Not enough compression damping? Or too much? My car does feel a bit stiff but I figured it was because of the stiffer OEM ITR springs on the back.

not enough at all.
stock spring rates are soft. theyre also progressive in the rear so it takes relatively little force to compress the first inch or so. so going over a bump, it will compress easily due to lack of compression damping. but the high rebound damping slows the extension stroke. if theres another bump in the road, the spring is still loaded, and is going to start from a higher initial spring force and probably compress even more. its called suspension jacking.
and it definately occured on my crx with stock springs and konis in the rear. even set at the lowest setting. so if at the lowest setting, and still questionable handling, then whats the point of adjustability if its only going to make it worse.
the lack of compression valving is covered up with stiffer springs, like the popular 400/600 variety. since its the spring that is doing all the compression resistance. and the car's motion is controlled in the extension stroke by the high rebound. the outboard wheel may get loaded, but the inboard wheel is prevented from extending keeping the car better planted and under control.
thats just the "koni feel". they purposely tune it that way.
koni yellows on stock springs are not a good choice. try koni reds if you really want konis and use low spring rates.

thats not what i said at all.
im saying the REBOUND is so strong. it doesnt allow the spring to extend in enough time to have sufficient amount of travel before the next bump. i literally felt my *** dragging and slowly rising after a speed bump.

Sadly, they don't.
