Default Clicking sound from H22 after 3rd gear pull. WTF?

Any ideas what got messed up? Its a clicking sound (not too heavy) that is only heard at at idle as revs increase it goes away. Sounds like the top half of engine.

it could be anything. try to narrow it down more, like left side, right side, back, etc.

Sounds dead center of the valve cover, its a more of a light tapping sound

pull the valve cover and take a look around. if u can't see anything turn the motor over by hand and maybe you can hear it.

update: I pulled the valve cover and re adjusted the valve clearances.I also inspected the rocker arms lost motion assy. Every thing checks fine. I am beginning to wonder if the sound is actually coming from the block.

This sound is heavier than valve/injector tick but not as heavy as rod knock, almost like piston slap. Whats remarkable about it is, you only hear it at idle, and its louder when the engine is cold. once you rev past say 1500 you dont hear it. The slower the egine spins the more evident it is. Its not erratic but steady paced
Any other ideas?

I dont think rod knock will disapear when the engine warms, or when you rev the engine.

Yea,its a built motor. I have always had a slight slap when cold, but all of sudden its distinctly louder. Car still runs perfect......just dont want to damage anything.
