it depends on what you want to use the car for?? There are many different routes to go with (i.e. swap, F/I, N/A). Find out what your overall goal is and SEARCH accordingly.
the term EG refers to the chassis code of the JDM EG6 (SiR, B16a) which is the same chassis style as the USDM years of 92-95.
generally speaking
EG is 92-95
EK is 96-00
but some people hate the use of those terms.
as far as setups, like mentioned above, what would you like? more power, better handling? street use? track use? split personality? sleeper? monster in and out?
There are really no limits to directions you can go with civics, aftermarket and upgrade parts are everywhere and plentyful.
Also in Cali, you have to keep in mind the emissions laws when modding your car. Any change to the engine related parts must be carb legal.

if you want to be that technical, USDM hatches are EH2 or EH3, coupes are.... ehhh. This has been covered so many times... no one cares anymore.
OP: to understand what we are talking about look at your 4,5,6 digits of your VIN number. It will read EJ1, that's the chassis code to your car. (more info about your VIN is here... http://www.b18c5eg.com/vins.htm )
you can call your car an EG if you'd like, everyone will know what you're talking about.
