Suspension review threads
Everyday on H-T you see new post about what brand should i buy, or setup x vs setup y vs setup z
I guess a main reason why, is there are shitty threads with only 1 or two good posts about the true nature of how each product/setup is used.
Because 99% the answers you get in those threads are: "BRAND X!
"
What kind of useless information is that, "oo, everybody says brand Y, so it must be good" well yes and no... could be the new trend... there is no solid info on the quality of the product/setup, or any other information about the product/setup other than +1 for "brand X!"
it doesn't matter any way cause the op will eventually decide on what to buy on his/her own...
Wouldn't it be a good thing to setup up a few threads, each limited to only ONE brand or setup
and all that thread has is a bunch of posts that were only reviews on that product/setup, and no discussion of other brands or setups?
Example form of each post:
Product Purchased
Car product was installed on
F/R Spring Rates (affects ride quality/handling)
Ride height (explain how you measured it, finger gap, fender edge to tire, center to fender, ground to center, etc. - affects ride quality/handling)
Reason for purchasing: "wanted to slam my ride!", track setup, auto-x setup, daily setup, etc. (puts the reader in the writer's point of view)
Other car mods, anti roll bar, cage, lightening.. (affects ride/handling)
Tire Brand (Affects handling)
Tire Size (Affects ride quality)
Approximate date product was installed on (gives the reader a time frame, also if the brand has improved or degraded over time...)
Approximate use of the product in miles and time (ex: I used Apex for about 8 months and put about 11,000 miles on it. - gives the reader a general idea of reliability and if the review is too new to trust)
Are they still in use? if not why you removed them, and what did you change it to.
Pros of the setup
Cons of the setup
Comments
Only problem with this tread, is it requires a little more moderation, because the mods have to delete the stupid posts that don't follow the format, that one line bump that isn't required, a question about the product because the user didn't read the ******* thread, etc...
i guess i'm also wondering if I left out any other significant fields, that way we can get a solid post format for each thread.
