them turbos dont boost much 3 psi each(very small turbos). my buddys shop did a 8 turbo 57 chevy too but its not this one like i thought when i went in this post.
some people just want to be a little diffrent. i'm sure that he get's a ton of poeple to stop and talk to him at every show and that would be the point. anoher reason i'm sure he did it is because he can. he surley did not do it for the performance. i'm sure he hardley ever starts it.
myself i've got one of those ebay t70's i was going to sell it to get a real turbo. untill i saw this video. now it's going on my 80 chevy shortbed 4x4 this weekend. i'm sure it will make grown men laugh like school girls.

For all the idiots screaming about how pointless and inefficient the setup is, consider this:
You're a businessman in a market segment that caters to people with lots of money who want a job done right the first time and they want it to look like they paid big money for it. When it comes time to stand out from your competition, what better than to stick eight turbos under the hood of a classic car and have it look better than it did from the factory? The amount of dedication and attention to detail will gain you more customers - read: money - than anything else.
A 700+whp classic with eight turbos is much more impressive to many more people than a 700+whp Honda Civic with one turbo and enough braided steel tubing to hang the ninth infantry.
Think first, speak second. Make your mothers happy.

A quad turbo (or twins with divided housings) would have been much better in terms of spoolup.
The reason that 8-turbo setup can make the power is because there is virtually no exhaust pulses that interfer with an overlap 'event', as in no exhaust valve is opening in the same manifold when another is closing (during overlap). This means you get much less reversion than an 8-cylinder, single turbo setup would have.
The reason the supercars have >2 turbos is because they have an assload of pistons. A car like a Bugatti EB110 benifits from quads because it's like 2 inline-6's, and groups the front/rear 3 cylinders on each bank for the best reduction of overlap reversion, which is an issue with a large motor that makes peak power at 8k rpm.
