disable / deactivate abs
k guys ive tried to search and have only really found threads on complete abs removal, but this is for a stock daily driver. abs pump is going bad, but we hate abs bc of the mushy feeling with braking (and it is NOT needed for winter driving if you know how to drive in snow).
anyways all i want to do is simply deactivate the system and have normal braking. can this be simply accomplished by unplugging the abs computer and/or removing the under hood fuse for the abs? obviously disconnecting the abs computer will disable the system but my concerns are if that will somehow adversely affect the braking by possibly causing a loose in pressure or something else?
any FACTUAL INFO would be appreciate.... please DO NOT GUESS.

Yes and yes, removing the fuse is the easiest way.
Yes and yes, removing the fuse is the easiest way.
Just unplug the fuse. It will not hurt anything.
I would not recomend it though. Keep the fuse nearby b/c after a few times of skidding to a stop, you will want it back.

thanks but this is the type of thread i said that i had already found many times.... its on removing the whole system as opposed to just shutting it off but leaving it in the car

the abs light comes on when the abs system is not working ... that can be bc of component failure of bc its shut off like when the fuse is removed.... if you want the abs to work hook the fuse back up and then if the abs light is still on use the service jump connector like you would to pull a check engine code... the abs light will blink and signal you the code to identify the issue with the system.
i just removed the fuse bc i hate abs and when the light came on i simple removed the bulb from the cluster

what does that mean?that the guy i bought it from
took fuse out?</TD></TR></TABLE>
maybe. it means there is a problem with your abs.

It's actually helpful in the snow and needed less in the summer. you are not correct at all. Second i never thought the abs in the teg was that bad, and if you really knew how to drive in the snow you would never use abs. If you want to bypass your failing pump pull the fuse.

i know its purpose is for braking in slick conditions ie snow rain ice... so how is what i said wrong. its simply not a necessity if you know how to properly brake in the snow while pumping the brakes as opposed to stomping on them and locking them up. and if you really knew about the sensitivity of the abs system you would realize it kicks in much sooner then it needs to hence it will begin to work well before the driver gets in a situation where he will loose traction and in effect makes it take longer to stop. to me its just annoying
