Default b16b or b17

My homie is selling a b16b and b17 swap and I was gonna pick one up but just wanted to know which one is better for boost. What one is?

I would go with a GS-R for boost.

the b17 is better for boost. Type-R motors have much higher compression ratios, and the b16b is no exception. You will need to change the internals of the engine to support lower compression before boosting reliably, and if thats the case the b17 is better. The b17 is older though (they were only produced in 92 and 93 integra gsr's) and after determining the health of that b17 (by doing a leakdown and compression test) you may need to rebuild it anyways. even if a rebuild is necessary, i would still choose the b17 because it has more displacement and is already easier to boost.

good luck on the build

edit: ^^^ I posted at the same time. sorry for the repeat.

well... the B17 is out of the DA gsr. Which means it probably has quite a few miles on it. The lower compression on the B17 would be better for boost, but the high mileage wouldn't. If you plan on building the B17 I'd pick it up.

Is he selling them both for the same price?

He's selling the CTR motor to me for 3200 and the b17 for 2700.

B17 for 2700? Is it a full swap? That just sounds a little steep. Only because it is such an old motor.

The b17 comes with a b18b tranny and the CTR is all CTR.

These are full swaps yeah. The miles are low though, both under 90k.

an LS tranny? hmm those are some long ratios.

and as mentioned above, it is expensive.

The b17 has some ITR parts, I forget which though, I'll ask him tomorrow when I'm at his house.

Should I get his LS motor? He said he would be able to get one for me by this thursday. He would sell the complete swap to me for 1500.

What do you mean he will get one for you? If he is going to steal an Integra for you, then no.

Me and my homies aren't thieves. He gets some motors from his brother in Japan.

Well, a b18b is personally my favourite motor because they can do so many things for so little.

If you want to keep it naturally aspirated, no problem...it has a lot of torque and long gears, which makes it excellent for daily driving. Not enough power? throw on a VTEC head.

If you want to go the forced induction route, no problem...throw a turbo on.

If you are a novice and f*ck the motor up somehow, no problem...buy another one, they're inexpensive.

Fuuck this guy - he IS a thief.

He posts up a stolen EM1 that he "found" with his boys, but won't report it:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2167752

Then during another topic about how Honda theft is out of control he posts and admits to "taking misc. parts off of it and leaving" the EM1 he posted that he found - read halfway from page 4, then through the rest of the topic:

https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=4

He states how "rich" he is, and that he doesn't give a fuuck is other peoples' cars get stolen.

Sounds to me like this clown already knows what engines are best for BOOSTING since he's a fuucking thief!

BTW:

I'm on a mission to copy/paste the very information I posted in this topic in response to any and all topics created by this pile of ****.

I forgot to also add that he happens to be a racist too - read through the 4-6 pages on that "theft is out of control" topic to see what I mean.

I'm doing this until this thief is banned from H-T - he doesn't deserve to post and mingle with honest people here.

I know this isn't the most mature post, but from the threads that were posted the OP sounds like an ignorant a$$hole. Clearly doesnt understand the law and the definition of theft.
