Default i am selling my tow truck to get into fabercation.......

last year i brought a syncrowave 200 so i can build myself and some friends a few manifolds. sadly enough i never even got a chance to use it. my grandfather dident like the idea of me using it in the basement (scardy cat). so basically it sat down there unused for about 6 months. then i moves all my tools and stuff to my sisters garage, but i still dident use it because i dident have time to wire up the garage for 220v. i was also helping my sister full time at her new resturant. spring time comes around and i was talking to my old boss at my old towing company about buying my own truck to do junk car removal and local tows. once i decided that what i was going to do, i sold a bumch of stuff, including my brand new syncrowave. the tow truck thing worked out great, i made a killing, i say i tripled the money i spent, help me get out of some debt, brought me some **** for my cars, and kept me licing all spring/summer/fall. i always said i dident want to tow over the winter, so i decided to sell my truck, and buy some shop equiptment again. junk cars a dead right now, towinbg is slow, and i wanted to sell this truck regardless so i can buy a flatebed. i put the truck on ebay for $6500, got alot of intrest, but no buyers yet. if i do buy this truck, i got to budget out the money on what i am going to buy next

first, i am debating should i get another syncrowave 200 or should i up to an inverter, maybe a dynasty 350 (lol). i really dont think ill be doing a whole lof of aluminum, but you never konw, plus already having a syncrowave and moving it around, id love to have an inverter this time. i know i can get a syncrowave for $1800, but what would yall suggest for a budget of $2500? it really dosent have to be a miller product, but as of right now, i am leaning towords miller. if i put my welding budjet at $2500, i can prob get a syncrowave200, and a nice mig or plasma cutter

there a few more thign i want to get besides the welder. ill prob check ot harbor freight, see what they got for end of the year sales. i need a 20 ton shop press, a nice sized sand blasting cabinet, a pipe bender (hopefully i can find a chap used mandel bender). my cousin has a cramping machine that builds hydrolic lines that he said i can take, ill just have to see if it has a chuck small enough to do turbo oil lines. i know i can do some nitrous lines or fuel lines, so thats nice as a freebie.

i am just looking for some suggestions on these things.

whats your skill level? you want an hf start? ac/dc ability? (welding aluminum might as well pay for it you never know, and race cars use lot of it). water cooling?

these are all questions to ask yourself.

i didnt hear anything about your ability so its hard to recommend a welder to you.

i am a novice. i have zero welding skills, i hope that dosent prevent me from buying a great machine. i want someting that will be real good with aluminum, i want to be able to weld up intercooler piping. like i said, i really dont mind getting another syncrowave, eventhough its huge and heavy, but its alot less likely to get stolen or "lost" out of my house garage like an inverter. but the mobility of the inverter put a huge smile on my face. as far as watercooling, i am not sure. i dont think ill be running it sweat shop hours, but then again, you never know.

p.s. anyone have any experience with this band saw http://www.harborfreight.com/c...93762

Keep your Rollback / Tow Truck It will make you more money than your welder ever will. The Best Item Ive Bought this Year Was a Chevy C7500 Rollback With a Tag Axle That will Haul 30,000 lbs with a 28ft Bed. I use my welder maybe once a Week the Rollback get used more than that. We Bill Our Rollback out @ more than $3 a Mile, When was the last time your welder Got Billed out for $150+ an hour.

If you Need extra Work Go Find a Machinery Dealer / Forklift Dealer. Im postive they will have delivery work available

i understand what you are saying. i have a vulcan wrecker, not a rool back. i brought it to do local tolws for myself and some freidns, and to run junk cars. i been doing towing since 01, i really dont want to do it full time. i brought this truck to run junk cars. this summer scrap steel was paying $170 a ton, i made a killing. right now its cold, there isent alot of junk, pluse thesy guys are paying out crazy amounts to get cars. scrap yards are only paying out 130 a ton. being that i only had a wrecker not a flatbed, i wasnt supposed to be towing unregistered cars, i got away with it all summer (knock on wood). i had plans on selling this truck anyways and buying a flatbed in the spring.
