Piston ring top/bottom

Quick question... On my NPR rings for my Vitaras, it says N50 on them. Do the letters face up or down? I'm pretty sure it's up, but just wanna be sure.

there should be a dot but, its facing up in a staggered formation.

There's no dot. Just writing. And I know it's staggered.

i meant to say "there should have been a dot but face it(the writing) up.
