Default power steering bearings

hey guys the bearings in my pump are on their way out and the pump is making a loud whining noise and is starting to screech real loud in the morning for a couple of minutes during warm up.and I dont have the money for another pump right now..I searched but couldnt find exactly what I was looking for....if I just take off the belt... 1. Will it be harder to turn than say a dx model (mines an hx)...and two...will it hurt anything in the long run running without a belt...will the pressure left in the system mess everything up?.....thanks much
