Questions about CRX ride height and finding a wheel from a guy who didn't read the forum rules
i have an 88 crx dx...now i had an 89 crx si before and i had a set of 17in. ruff racing wheels on it and they got stolen. here is the problem when i had them on my car they, well at least the rear wheels where sunk in the wheel wells and my front bumper was really low to the ground. really nice looking...and i had a set of tocko shocks and red lowering springs on it....now i have stock shocks and ebay coil overs with 13inch wheels on my dx........for some reason my car sits higher than my si did, front bumper and wheel well......how can i fix it and can anyone help me finf the 17inch ruff racing split 5 spoked rims...i can't seem to find 17inch one ony 18inch.........thank you for your help...
Well, a bunch of things affect the ride height - not only the suspension, but also the tire sizes, which you didn't state. (It's possible for a 13" tire to make your car higher or lower than a 17" tire, depending on the full tire sizes, including treadwidth and aspect ratio so that the sidewall height can be calculated.) So tell us the tire sizes of your '88 CRX with 17" tires and your '89 CRX with 13" tires, so we can rule that in or out.
I don't know if there are ride height differences between the '89 Si and the '88 DX (the '88 and '89 were identical, but I don't know about any difference between the two models).
I also don't know anything about ride height differences in the suspensions you mention; you might try asking in the CRX forum or in the suspension forum.
Maybe someone else here can give you a lead on the wheels you're looking for. Personally, I think 17" rims are too big for a CRX, since they require larger tires that slow down your acceleration and throw off your speedometer/odometer, but that's up to you.
One more thing. Stickied at the top of this forum is a topic called
