Default Anyone with a Pilot have troubles?...03-05?

I was looking at Odyssey's but due to poor trannies I'm looking to the Pilot now. Just looked a few up at Chevy/Toyota/Honda dealers and most were well under the KBB price.

All the reviews I've read were great. Even the listing in the Consumers Report was amazing.

Also, I was hoping to get a listing of when maintance is due; timing belt, water pump, regular tune-up, etc....

I know nothing of the V-6. Still loving my park/ride 90 Civic w/ 300k. Just need a bigger second ride for the family.

Any help/thoughts/advice would be great.

Thanks HT-ers.

So I just got back from a test drive: 2003 Pilot EX - 73k - $15300

It was amazing! I loved everything about it, ...except the stupid story the dealer always wants to tell you. They claimed by one older (80 years of age) couple. Traded for a Fit after his wife passed. Only driven in the little town they lived in.

Does it have a timing belt or chain? One guy claimed all Hondas are chain now. The other said 4cly are chains and 6cly are belts. Confirmation HT-ers...?

Back seat was HUGE. 3rd row was alright. Just wish it had leather.

V6 are belts. 4 cylinders 02 and up are chain except civic they went chain in 06.

As a technician I have not seen pilots come in for anything like tranny issues or anything major engine related.

i have an 03 pilot w/ 1201k miles on it.
they have their typical problems.
they also use pretty much the same trans as the oddysse ,TL,accord etc etc.
but, i cant complain. no major problems here.
just keep up with the maintnance and youll be fine.
and get the extended warrenty.

Just got an 04 Pilot EX-L RES and my wife LOVES it. Rides like a car, great turning radius, smooth, rear dvd is pretty cool with the wireless headsets, as is our first car with seat heat. No problems or trouble here, although it's only got 30K miles. Oil, tranny, and VTM fluids are a breeze to change.

Good Luck

Thanks for everyones responses.

Great to hear no problems fro everyone too. Maybe I'll save a couple more bucks though to drop about $20k on one with a little fewer miles.

FYI, '05+ Odyssey's do not have the same trans issues the '98-'04's did.
