Default rebuild bottom end

So im rebuilding my jdm c5 this month and was looking for some more displacement for my n/a build. wondering how far i should bore
i was trying to reach 1.9 or 2.0. Do i need to resleeve the block to reach 1.9 I think the most to go on stock sleeves is 82mm no? Or could i get away with a block gaurd. Im a novice so please any info asap would help i have to send my block out to the shop in 2-3weeks and need to order pistions and whatever else to do this rebuild reliable with cast pistions thanks for your time

~82mm is about the max bore for a stock/non-sleeved bottom end.

Have you fully researched the costs associated with a 2.0L build? I have build sheets of estimated costs, but many others in this forum can give you real costs from their own builds. Its not a cheap task, but I am by no means trying to convince you from building. I just want to make sure you know the real costs of the build.

What are you plans for the car?

82mm bore + 91mm Eagle crank + rods = 1922cc

82mm bore + LS 89mm crank + rods = 1880cc

Unless you are boosting, no need for a block guard.

My build came out to just over $3,000 for my Benson sleeved 2.0L bottom end (85mm). This included all parts and assembly by Laskey Racing.

Don't forget to use ARP rod bolts.

SSR Street Sweeper

If you are looking to retain PS/AC, the SSR B-Unit is also good. They are roughly equal in the midrange, then the Street Sweeper carries further.

On the INTEC DynoJet, a B-Unit made 12whp over a JDM 4-1, and the Street Sweeper made another 6-7 over the B-Unit, this is on a mild 1.8L build mind you.
