97 Honda Accord shuts off
I have a 97 Honda Accord with 150,000 miles on it. Lately I've had a problem with it shutting off on me (the engine shuts off but radio, AC, etc. still work), especially in cold weather. It happens 2-3 a week or so. I'll start the car up just fine, and it'll just shut off a couple of minutes later. Sometimes, I'll be driving it and it'll just shut off. Other times, it won't completely shut off but my RPM's will suddenly go down to 0 and my gas pedal won't do anything and then the RPM's will just come back within a few seconds. I've had no problems actually starting the car until today. It did the RPM thing a couple of times, then it shut off and I had some problems starting it back up again (the engine was turning over, but wouldn't start for about 20 seconds). Seems like most of this is happening in cold weather and within the fist 10 minutes of me starting the car. Anybody have any ideas what might be causing this? Thanks.
search ignition switch, when the car shuts off intermittently, the contact may be worn it's like a 30$ fix, and i'm pretty sure there was a recall completed on the 97 accords. use the search feature.
