I'm curious to know how fast people have gone on drum brakes. (or no back brakes/ w/o chute). I dont believe I'm pushing the limits, just want to hear what others (with drum brakes) have to say on the matter.
137mph
Car: CRX
Weight: ~2200
Drums: 1st gen CRX HF (Aluminum)
MC: OEM CRX
Front Brakes: OEM CRX Si w/upgraded pads (forget what kind)
I have no issues stopping and like to use the whole track.
people with first hand experience need only reply in this thread. I dont care what you "think".

wow, this thread is going much better than I thought.
We now have a thread that proves that there is nothing wrong with rear drums.
what does bisimoto use on the rear for brakes?

They don't. He converted them to drums. I believe the main reason was to save weight. somewhere in the 6lbs area i think.

slightly off topic...but what rear drums are lighter than discs? I weighed a set of stock civic drums and integra rear discs and they were within one pound of each other in weight of the entire trailing arm with attached brake hardware. Drums were from a 1993 civic ex coupe, discs from a 99 teg.

I'll have to differ, on my old crx ('89dx) I did a disk swap and there is a big differance...

i think the weights include the COMPLETE brake assembly including spindles/trailing arms. just think of it this way too. what's heavier, a brake caliper or a little wheel cylinder?

Back on topic though: 147 complete stock brakes on a 98ex disc front/drum rear.
