Exedy Clutch Kits: Differences between '89 and '90?
To the point:
My friend's 89 CRX Si has probably the worst slipping clutch in the world, so his dad and I scheme to get it replaced for him before Christmas. I hop on eBay and order what was said to be the Exedy OE Clutch kit for '89-'91 CRX 1.5/1.6 . The parts arrive this afternoon, and being the **** person I am, I look at the part numbers to make sure they match the application claimed. According to the Exedy USA OE website, the 1989 kit is part number 08011, and the 1990 is 08012 <- the one I received.
Are the two kits that much different as to screw us over completely, or is it just a renumbering or something? Thanks for the help.

Spline differences are only with the 88 along with a 190mm flywheel. The 89 however uses the same amount of splines as the 90-2000 d-series but the flywheel is 200mm. I would suggest having been one of those cursed with the variations of the 89 that you get a 90-91 flywheel 210mm from checkers (about $50) and swap it in. It also increase the grabbing force by approx 200 lbs if I'm not mistaken over the stock 89 clutch and flywheel combo.
No other alterations are required.

Got an 89 civic too, just did the same clutch change and am waiting for speedo gear for tranny everything bolts up ok. I will let you know if it works as soon as I can. The kit claims 89-91 though I will be seriously pissed if I have to drop the tranny again.
