Default Discrimination?

This isnt really a tech question...but does anyone ever get discriminated against for your modded car? I have a slammed ep with white sto and i got a ticket for speeding today. He told me i was going 83 in a 40, and i was at the time sitting at about 5,500 in 2nd gear...he didnt give me anything more then a speeding ticke, no recless driving or anything else then a normal ticket. Tell me if something sounds fishy about that you you guys and girls.

No its not fishy. but expect when your car is louder, and more stylin its going to be looked at more. Yes there are some police that have a neg. look on modded cars because stupid kids and people race on the streets and it doesnt do well for our rep. Race on the track not the streets. Also depending on what technology he was using he could have radared you from a long ways away and you would have not even seen or expected it. If you have a radar detector he could be using a laser. You just lucky you dont have a dirt bag car, cause then he would be fishing for more than just a speeding ticket.

Court. Go in apathetic. Say your mods could have been a distraction. Good luck. Same discrimination in court.

Ok so either way your speeding, yes he probably didnt get you going 83. But then again no one is ever at fault when telling their story. Why are you crusing around town at 5500 rpms unless you want to attract attention. The Judge will laugh you out of court. I would look into the law about providing a print out of the radar gun. In WA Law Enforcment doesnt have to prove how fast you where going. But if you go across the river into Oregon and they have to prove it by printing you a reciet type of thing. Also agian it might be different but if you argue the ticket (which you cant cause you where speeding) and the officer doesnt show your off scott free! good luck

Yes they do. About 61 or 62 in second.

Second, perhaps the officer clocked another vehicle and was not paying enough attention between the clock point and the traffic stop, causing him to stop the wrong vehicle. You could try to dispute it in court, but in the end it will be your word against his.

I have friends that say that my car "asks to be stopped". However, the speeding tickets I have received were justified and the officers actually cut me a break all times by indicating a lower speed on the citation than what I was really doing. Cops are just doing their jobs and they realize that people modify their cars. They do not stop you just because you have a car that "looks fast".

i have no problem admiting that i was speeding...i just dont want to be charged for 43 over the speed limit, thats just stupid. As for the could have clocked another car, i forgot to add that. A freind of mine was behind me in his S14 and was trying to pass me, but didnt think he got far enough infront before we came over the hill and saw the cop.

The point im trying to make is im only 18, but im not stupid. I had a prefectly clean record and i was just trying to point out that its absurd for him to say i was going that fast when i clearly wasnt. Since im 18 theres nothing i can do in court but plead guilty. I really dont want to risk my insurance sky rocketing because of something that i wasnt doing to the extent of what the cop was saying. And just to prove that i am not a average 18 year old. I used to drive an '88 Nissan 300zx turbo SS, and i gave it up for an ep.

How much is this ticket anyway???

We drive modded cars which cops hate, comes with the territory.

he said that i had to go to court before i can pay the ticket (no clue why?) but there was nothing on the ticket that said anything about what to pay, but he said it will be about $147. I think i can go to driving school to get it off my record and insurance but im not for sure 100%.

actually if there was a car behind you or side of you he could of clocked their car and thought it was you. the way radars work, especially mounted radars, they just send out a beam and it comes back. the radars aren't actually accurate. He has to prove it was you he clocked. Even the radar guns are innacurate because they have to be exactly held still. Try holding those things for a long time there is no way your holding it still at a certain lvl. You can go to court and "debate" it out. Cop could of clocked your friend and thought it was you. He could of clocked a car beside you and pointed the finger at you.

My car does it anytime I redline 2nd gear - on the street or track.

Freind in the s14 got it too...wrote him out the exact same ticket. both cars doing exactly 83. 4 lane road with a median BY THE WAY so you are right....theres no way he could have clocked me with 3 lanes and a hill between us and he was actually moving.

Yeah then he was lying. should of asked to see the radar. Cops love to lie about that crap, i've had it done to me. I went to court to fight it and cop didn't even show up so it was dropped. There is no way he can clock you over a hill and clock both cars at same time. He can not clock both cars at same time it's not possible.

Again if it was laser hes dead accurate. It not only tells you how fast you are going but also tells the distince in ft. that he is clocking you at. You could raise a good argument but the judge will probably jsut reduce it and slap you hand then you leave and learn.
