is this a rip off to get my car painted.....
Hey guys what do you think a fair price for a cornflower blue paint job of my car would be. I really dont need the engine yanked out to paint all in there. just a good decent paint job. I was quoted 5 grand today and that just seems ******* idiotic. Thanks for the help

5 Grand?! Jesus H. Christ. Does it include a reasonable rimjob as well?
Just kidding, anyway, that is um, well, in my opinion, TOO MUCH.

When I went around searching for quotes they ranged from:
$475 to $2500 (twice for this amount).
This included body work. I wish I knew how to paint, I wil someday learn and be like that paint guy on Monster Garage with all those cool house of kolor paints.
Yes that is a lot of money they are quoting you, unless they are doing some major body work.

My friend just got his car painted and they charged him 1000 for body work, then 2000 for prep and a 3 stage paintjob. 5000 is way too much.
doesnt matter what kinda service they provide, $5G is ******* 2 MUCH!! i dont wanna sound cheap but go to One DAY Paint for $500 they'll do 2 coats and door jams
I don't know about One Day either man. They're pretty sheisty. If the car has minor dents and it needs a good paint job, I can see spending anywhere between 800 and 1400. Any more, and more than likely, it's a rip off unless you're getting show quality work. 5 grand is overkill. You can buy another CAR for 5 grand. Hell, you could probably find two 92-95 hatches with good bodies for 5 grand. Why the hell would you spend it on paint? Looking at your signature Halive, I notice you have the stock D16Y8 motor. If I had 5 grand to spend (I assume you do), I would swap in a B16 for 2300 (assuming you can do the labor yourself, if not, assume a basic swap would cost 3000) and spend the rest on a good paint job. 2700 dollars is still a good chunk of change for paint.
