nuub here got my first handa git some questions
I just got a 1990 civic Hatch.

the engine is a SOHC but i don't know if is 1.6l or 1.5l, and it appears to have a TBI set up (throttle body injection).
im not sure what edition of the car it is, it has drums in the back so i know it is not a SI, and it's a four speed
now the clutch is bugging me it dose not engage till your almost completely off of it, i heard there was a way to adjust this so that i can keep my foot on the floor during shifts.
but in general the car is almost perfect. i plan on keeping it stock for the most part. it is my daily driver, i got the truck for weekends. Best part about the car is it was only 1000 dollars and it only has 140K miles.
So tell me something I don’t know about the car. (I know nothing about Hondas)
thanks

"it has drums in the back so i know it is not a SI"
you dont have a sunroof either so thats how you know its not a si
the civic si came with drums only, the 90-91 crx si came with rear disc brakes
a std civic i had came with a 4-speed and 1.5 d15b7

Follow the clutch cable coming from the firewall all the way to the tranny. You'll see a black **** at the end, spin it to adjust the clutch catch point.
Also, a D15B7 is from a 92-95 Civic DX/LX. The motor you have should be a D15B1 or D15B2, I can't remember which one is which though.

those thirteen reports on carfax could all be inspections. when i carfaxed my crx, there were like 17 reports, and all of them were inspection reports. i had not talked to the owner a whole lot at that time so the only thing i learned was that it passed ca emissions from that carfax.
HAHAHA oh my god 50 HP ohh i love this car it cracks me up man. my truck has 360hp. but give it up for honda man i had my first kill last night a 1990 something MX-7 third gear got him. haha slowest race i ever saw. but my wheels spun for like five seconds haha.
but unfortunately the car is staying as is, it gets 38mpg and thats the way i like it.
oh yeah it has a short throw shifter and i mean really short. i welded a nut to a grenade i had and put on the shifter today looks badass. lol
Well thanks for the clutch info i'll check it out in the morning.

congratulations on the purchase
I have the same car as you... 1990 Civic STD but in red
your car is a great starting point because of it only weighing approximately 2127lbs (stock)
I would recommend getting rid of that 70hp slug of a motor ASAP, but I see you want to keep it stock
I put a b18b in mine and am very happy with the outcome
take a look at my build thread for a possible idea
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2066580
If you end up keeping the stock engine, I recommend at least swapping from dpfi to mpfi
your car currently has dual port fuel injection(dpfi) which means you only have 2 injectors which are spraying straight into the intake manifold, but if you swap to multi port fuel injection(mpfi) you will have 4 seperate injectors meaning each cylinder will be getting it's own injector
that and a si tranny swap should make your car come alive
the possibilities are endless.
just read up and make use of the search function.(it helps a lot)

Hey dude, I have a DX tranny in my garage and I'm in TX. Well, at the moment I'm deployed but I will be back toward the end of January. If your interested, let me know and I could probably have someone get it out for you. I'll let it go for $150, it's in great condition, no grinds, took the casing off and everything looked great. Oh, and you can still get good gas mileage with a B16. Later dude.

Converting his car to mpfi would be pointless. The difference between the d15b2(92hp dx) and d15b1(70hp std) is the cam and ecu. The cam on the std. Is tiny! I compared them side by side one time. I was freakin bored and curious lol. So adding a mpfi intake manifold won't realy do much. If he wants to go a little faster that thing has to come out

Swap something in there, anything.
