Default How's the welds look on this manifold ?

I was looking around eBay for turbo manifolds, and I ran across this manifold.
It looks like a badass equal length manifold, the price scares me a bit and how he thought it was an eBay knockoff. But my friend said the welds look pretty good and that it might actually be quality stuff.

But I'm not too sure, thanks for the help to those who respond.
Here's the pictures:

dont let someone just thumb down something and take their word for it. I am running a one fab manifold thats been on there for almost 2 years now. The only problem i had a problem with was getting it from him. That and i cant fit a 42r on there cause the manifold sits the turbo too close to the head. Other than that i havent had any weld problems. I say if you got it for a good deal then run it for a while...see what happens. Make up your own mind. He Just took 9 months to get me my manifold. But from what i heard hes not in business anymore so its no big deal, and you already have the manifold.

From what I remember, he out sourced another welder, which are probably the ones that are holding up. He was against using filler and only making one pass on things.

its hard to tell but it looks like a few of those passes are undercut, but if the price is right its your call

Pretty much the guy said it's equal length, I saw the other thread where you said it's not really equal length. Heh, but I don't know what else to call it

Looks like more of a coil to me

It is obviously not equal length. Just look at it and could the bends. Welds also look interesting. Very little heat and some of them look undercut. However, it is your money and your risk if you look at it that way.

Get pictures of the welds inside if you can, obviously with the engine's carbon removed. People here can tell you if it will be one of the prone-to-crack POS's he made. Also try to get the metal's thickness. The ebay mani's use very thin metal. I've seen an ebay version - although it was more equal length than a ramhorn, the one I saw had very thin runners and was just MIG welds with a final TIG pass (for the ladies...).

Actually, last I heard / saw of him was on other forums trying to make new "manifolds" for people and selling them.... GM Forums to be exact....

Im pretty sure if you got the manifold on ebay, it was for a VERY low price. I could understand putting the manifold on a pedestal if the cost was above $500. If it was a sub $200 manifold, Its worth testing out until one could be purchased from a known fabricator at a later date. You cant eye ball the out side of the manifold (any of us) and give you a yes or no if it will hold up. But we can tell you, good luck and happy boosting

Generally speaking, if a manifold has seasoned and hasn't cracked, it isn't going to.

people ( usually) use casted manifolds for a daily driven motor because they last more compared to the welded ones...althou the equal lenght manifolds tends to create more power, they crack faster ....
comparing thickness from a tube and cast ones...the cast ones are beefier...

but check on the feedback too...

A few of the welds in the picture definitely look like they didn't use much filler. They're undercut looking.

i see cracked cast manifolds all the time. if a tubular is built right with thick enough piping, it will last a very long time.

i've welded 3 greddy manifolds for k-series in the past two months.

cast =

i would try the manifold. worst thing thats going to happen is cracking. go get it welded up and you'll be good to go.

that is a ssautochrome manifold and its only $108 on there web site and they call it a twisted ram manifold. Ive seen these personally on egs, dc2's and have held up for over 3 1/2 years. That manifold helps the turbo spool faster than some other manifolds. Its a pretty good buy for no problems on a couple of my boys cars but it wont fit a ef chassis with a b16 so i cant use one or i would have got that. I ordered a cast manifold from meutek for 139 shipped. I may sell that and get a spa cast top mount cause i just found out u can fit a gt35r in a ef with that manifold. check out these two optioins.
