Default MPFI B16 into DPFI 88 DX Civic

So i had my B16A in my 91 Si but got another hatch which is an 88. Swapped the motor into it lastnight and go to plug the harness together but the 88's harness doesnt fit into my Si harness. Should i pull the harness plug from my Si and somehow wire that in ??

Kinda lost with it so some help would be greatly appreciated

It'd be easier for you to convert the new harness over to the motor, it's a PITA to repin the shock tower connections, unless you are into that sort of thing

He is saying be patient and take your time with what you have. Unless you convert new harness over to the motor you have

I had a tie-rod leave the steering today while I was trying to drive today, think about that Your issue here is that Honda MFG, in their all knowing wisdom changed the strut tower connections at will between the different models, and through the different years. It isn't like the newer (well less old) EG / DC / EK models where a lot is interchangeable throughout the model runs. To make it connect to the shock tower between two different harnesses, you will have to whip out wiring diagrams for the base car and the donor car from which the harness on the engine originally came from and make changes accordingly to get the chassis to match the engine harness or vice versa.

is it even possible for me to make my OBD0 B16 engine harness work with my 88 DX car harness at all ?

I keep being told i have to use a Si car harness or i have to get a MPFI DX engine harness . .

This is so annoying . I read the write ups but ALL i need is the driver side strut tower plug from the car to the engine to fit and it doesnt even say anything about it . Cant I just get that part of the harness off of an Si and use it instead of the DX ?

</TD></TR></TABLE>the DX DPFI chassis harness does not have wiring from the ECU to the engine bay for the 2 additional fuel injectors on the MPFI - it also doesn't have wiring from the ECU to the engine bay for the cylinder sensor in the MPFI distributor - these are the wires that are added when doing the DPFI to MPFI wiring changes - you need to use the DX engine harness and make the necessary changes to it
