Default What class to run in to be competetive?

This winter I will be starting a FWD drag project based on the eg chassis.

My build budget will be around 20k after the purchase of the car.

What class should I bee shooting for to be competetive, keeping in mind that I will be doing all of my own chassis fabrication if required.

Tires and consumables are not considered in this budget.

you could rule brackets.. with maybe 5K more, and if need be, over-night parts from Japan.

bwaahahaaha oh my that was freakin funny i just spit my dinner all over my laptop.

Sfwd "type" of car seems reasonable. I say "type" because who know what the exact rules are going to be. But start building now and im sure the rules will be done by the time you need them

Go SFWD. 20 large will get you competitive. Just enlist the help of someone who has been there so you can skip all the bad ideas and mistakes.

ahhahhahahahh oh god...... FNF here we come!!

SFwD, i'll have to take a good look at what is *competes* and what the general token modifications to that are.

can anybody point out the obvious limitations in this class? like chassis modifications ect? what exactly is a SFwD type car? or should I read the rule book posted in the drag forum sticky??

My only experience drag racing so far has been in brackets along side camaro's rofl.. I think i'm greener at this than the chunk of spinich stuck in my grandma's dentures!

Can't wait to get my feet a little wetter!

just get someone reputable to build you a solid 10 second sfwd style car and you will be fine in Canada with it.

I'd prefer to build the car myself, if nothing else as a learning experience. I have many skills and resources to draw on for mechanics and fabrication.

I guess i'll start reading the old rules so I don't waste my money on something that will bump me up a class instantly

just build it and compete in CSCS, the cars that go out for that arent that quick like sfwd.

theres less restrictions and rules.. 26" is allowd, and that golf runs like 9.9 at best or something. with a gt47r.

im assuming your talking about the purple gti? if so i wanna say he went 9.97 on a 4088r but now it has a 42r on it (may have had the 42r for the 9.9 pass i cant remember) but dont pick on the vw's we're still a bit behind the mainstream

I'll have to take a look into that but that's probably not the best option for me as I live much closer to a bunch of tracks in Minnesota / Wisconsin

It's 45mins to the minesota border going slow lol and 13hrs to Southern Ontario (Toronto)

If I was in your shoes with that budget, I would look for someone selling a SFWD car that has already proven itself. You will spend a lot more than that to make a clean, competitive, and reliable car IMO.

There is no shame in buying a car that is already put together. You make it your own once you have it.

Or....there's lots of older Pro Stock and Hot Rod cars sitting in garages collecting dust. I know some of these people would let their stuff go for less than 20K. Then you just have to update them a bit.

I will have to keep my ear to the ground! It's a little hard knowing being so far away from the heart of the following >.<

I don't want the sport to die! I love my honda's!!

That's not a bad idea, even if you find a rolling shell with a cage, suspension, some kind of fuel system etc.. you can add your motor and save a couple of $.

Def a good idea, but hard for me being so far from the heart of SC drags.

I need to pick up A new shell to strip the interior for my street car.. so I was thinking of caging the car myself and going from there! We'll see, it depends if i can get an interior without buying a car lol!

yes your right.. I was told it was 47r which sounded like a massive turbo.. i seen the car quick didnt look that big.

so im sure you right on the size, but yeah i remember hearing it went in the single digits, and its probably about the fastest thing ive seen at cscs in the power adder street class.

im not picking on it, i like the car.

There was a guy selling a hot rod shell from minnesota recently. Only wanted 2-3,000 for it. Might want to search for it.
