Default SEAT PAN problem, 89 crx si seats-> 90 civic dx. Click link for pics.

I am attempting to swap the seats from an 89 CRX Si, into a 90 Civic DX. I researched and it appeared to be a simple seat pan swap. I am in the middle of the swap and have found that the hinge locations on the inner side of the Civic seat pan is approximately 3 inches too narrow to accomodate the CRX seat back. This hinge is welded to the upper CRX seat back frame, and the inverse is true about the Civic seat pan; so unbolting is not an option. The sliders will not bolt to the CRX seat pan. I planned this out and thought I had it all covered. What have I missed?

-I do not have a welder, or access to one.

In the pics you can see the gap between the seat pans and seat backs.

Input is needed and appreciated.

ps: "Lauren" is my wife. I used her photo site, since I don't normally do this kind of thing. Don't email me asking for a date.

tell lauren i say hi and that seat set up is not going to work without some cutting and welding. i think you can take all the cover and foam off the top half and use the other frame. i think its so far off cause ones civic and ones crx. i guess i got lucky when i did a seat pan swap with del sol's in my crx bolted up fine i only had to drill a hole.

After reading every article I could find, I think I can safely deduce that the seat pans were never going to work.... I may attempt to put the Si seat foam on the DX seat frame. At least I have some good seat covers for the future.
