Default CTR exhaust cam vs B16 exhaust cam

Lookin to buy a set of CTR cams for my EM1 but im runnin into one problem. After researching on here and em1crew.com, it seems as though people recommend only changing out the intake cam as the exhaust cam is supposidly very similar on the two engines.

I did a little research and from what I found, the B16 exhaust cam specs are 9.4mm lift and 227 duration, whereas the CTR exhaust cam specs are 10.5mm lift and 235 duration. To me, this seems like a substantial difference.

My question is are my numbers incorrect or is there some other reason I keep hearing to only change the intake cam because from the numbers I got, the intake cams have about the same difference in duration and lift as the difference in the exhaust cams.

Please help!!!

I think they only say to do the intake because of something to do with the valve springs on the exhaust side are too stiff or something like that (I know its to do with the springs for sure)
I have both CTR cams in my B16 and use stock valve train.
No problems yet but will be changing it all next year when I get the car tuned etc.

NO, dont use the b16 exhaust cam. Youll be fine with the gsr exhaust and ctr intake. Thats how i have it in my motor. SICK!!!

I would get both cams. More air in=more air out. You might not be spinning the engine to 8500 rpm like a B16B and getting the most out of the cams, but it would make a difference in a B16A. You wouldn't buy just one shoe, would you?

I'm aware of that and thats why I said I was using the CTR intake cam. My question was on facts behind the exhaust cam and the CTR and ITR exhaust cams are the same. I'm just curious as to what to do about exhaust cam?

and for future referance, every sentence doesnt need to end with a buncha !!!!!!!!!!!!

well with a gsr they say the ctr intake cam is worth 7hp and the ctr exhaust cam adds another 3. They don't always bother with the exhaust cam upgrade for two reasons,... its not worth their money for 3hp, and it presents risks running the higher lift cam on the single exhaust springs (ctr/itr springs are dual both in/ex). Upgrading the valve springs makes that 3hp a bigger expense (buying a valve spring compressor too), and pain to do

So basically, adding the ctr intake cam only is a usually a skimper's, drop in mod, doing both cams is doing it right, and upgrading the springs as well is doing it extra right.

I'm sure there are similarities here with the b16.
