Default Alpine CDA-7822 headunit removal? (1994 Civic)

I feel like an a-hole posting this, but how do you remove this headunit? I've done factory units where they were held in by screws, but I removed the lower panel and looked under at the unit, but it's not secured by any screws. I tried just pushing it out, but it won't budge.

What's holding it in? Here are some crappy cam. phone pics.

Thanks in advance.

Pull the black trim ring, and you'll either see the spring-loaded pins that lock into the cage, or you'll see the slots into which you'd insert the removal keys that came with the radio.

Does it just pop out? I tried to pull on it gently, but didn't budge. I didn't want to break anything in case it was screwed in somewhere...

EDIT: Just tried to yank it off, but didn't budge. I took some pliers and tried to pull it, but also didn't work. I know there are 2 little levers on either side of the trim. I'm guessing you move the levers to take the trim piece out? I did try that, but to no avail...

You're pulling on the black ring around the deck, right? Most of them just snap on, but some of the older decks have the ring molded on, and it's not removable.

The pins should slide up and out of the slot that they reside in.

It helps to have a hook pick (90* works well). Unlock one side's pin, then pull out on that side of the unit so the pin doesn't lock back down. Then you can unlock the other side.....

Yeah, must be molded on there (this deck is pretty old). So you're saying the pins come completely out? I'll go try that real quick.

EDIT: Still no go. I'm getting ready to just take a hammer to it.

It's probably backstrapped then.

Remove the lower panel again and take pics of the back of the radio.

I swear I double-checked the back, but I probably missed something. I can't take pics with my phone, but I will post some up when I get home tonight.

Thanks for your help.

On that model the trim is molded on I think. Its easy to get out. If you look on both sides of that radio on the inside of the trim your going to see two pins. Move both of those pins to the center and pull the radio out.

Yeah, there are those to pins (or levers, as I referred to them ). I tried moving to the center and pulling it out, but still stuck. Nothing should be screwed into the back, right? I saw the stock mounting points under the radio, but nothing was screwed in.

Are you sure it's not backstrapped behind the radio? Piece of metal screwed to the back of the radio, then screwed to the dash somewhere?

Had some time at lunch, so I took out the bottom trim piece again and looked. This is what I found:

Actually, you could reuse your existing deck wiring harness, and sell the new one you get from Crutchfield... Prolly get ten bucks for it..
