Hey all, didn't see a New Member Introduction forum around here so I'll just include that along with my first post. I drive a Subaru and am actively involved in the Subaru community (forums, clubs, etc.) but I joined this site a couple months ago to check out some of the vendors here for parts like foglight bulbs, etc. I have a deep appreciation for Honda's and am planning to assist my friend with motorswapping his 1986 Civic Hatch. The car is used for rallycross and currently has a factory carburated 1.3L. The goal is to put in a D16 of any type he can find for the right price.
I would assume we will need (at minimum) the following components:
Engine
Transmission
Axles/hubs/brakes
Fuel pump
Wiring harness
ECU

Is there anything else I need to know before we tackle this project?
I have never motor swapped a Honda. In fact I've never motor swapped an engine that is fuel injected but I figure since the car is carburated in it's current state there will not be much in the way of wiring issues except for routing the D16 harness/ECU

In any case, I want to say the mounts are different, but I really don't know with an 86.

 

your best bet is to find an 86-89 integra to use as a donor car. youll need quite a few parts from it and it is the easiest of all engines to swap into an 86. 86-87 will be easier since its still vacuum advance, but the 88-89 offer slightly more HP and better tuning options.
