wheel refinish opinions needed ssr shumachers
I've seen them redone. I think a guy named Options had a set recoated in gold.
They looked alright, but as personal taste, i'd leave them as is.
To answer youre questions:
1. Take them apart by unbolting them from the barrels.
2. Im unsure of the size of the tool needed, but more than likely your going to need a 12 point socket.
3. Torque specs depend on how many bolts there are. I'd check with the Rim Bully opposum jenkins. Or ask someone in the SSR wheels thread.
4. If im not mistaken schumachers are a 2 piece wheel. So if you take them apart your going to have 2 pieces, The Barrel and Hub.

When I got mine, they were silver and pretty beat up. They were dirt cheap, so I didn't have much to lose. I had them completely repaired and refinished in a shade of BBS gold. In retrospect, I should have kept them silver.

They're actually 3 piece. A two piece welded barrel and the center disk.

I would only go silver or full polished.
WAY too many gold, bronze, gunmetal, black, white, red, blue, or green wheels with polished lips out there all ready.
Keep it real! Keep it classy!

Ah! i was mistaken.
And i think a full polish would be a bitch to complete. There isnt enough space between those spokes...

you could always do that brilliant chrome powdercoat, it's actually like a bright silver, and not as cheesy as plain chrome. Think of it as a flat/bright silver if that makes sense. I think someone on the boards had them done on MF10's.
But it would look very nice on the Schu's.
Edit: reflective chrome - taken from Mugen Thread - if OP wants me to remove I will.

I had a set of Schumachers on my old hatch for years and years...
the whole time I constantly considered refinishing them or having them coated
In retrospect I am so glad that I did not... my point is I guess
KEEP EM SILVER!
