turbo.

the problem is, a b16 is garbage...it has no torque, which means u need to rev the nuts off of it to move anywhere.

good luck

well your saying that its cheaper to buy a turbo kit and tune it and install..... then upgrading your motor with better all motor parts then tuning it to beat stock type r???? i know a type r isnt insanly fast but i still want to be (as) fast you know...

first off b16's arent garbage.
second the power to weight ratio needs to be considered in this match up.
third is boost is the cheapest a best way to make horepower.
and last why is beating a stock type r your concern? lol

gsr block b16 head. Anyways do you really want to put all of your money into your motor just to beat an ITR? What are your ultimate goals? I hope that isn't it. Boost is still going to be your best option.

Sorry man, but it really is lol. I would much rather have a b18b. More torque, lots of potential, much cheaper to purchase, very strong stock block...

You really can't go wrong.

To each their own. A b18b would be a fun motor to have also.

To start out then, just get a good I/H/E, until you are ready to do "major work." You won't match an ITR without doing some work. The ITR is going to have more torque than your b16 unless you go with a turbo setup. Pretty much as simple as that.

I guess you could get some decent cams and valvetrain then. But I still recommend going boost if you want the most for your money.

You're right about this. The gsr will be quicker. Anyways back on topic before this turns into another one of those b16 vs b18 battle threads.

There isn't a great amount of difference between the jdm and usdm motors. Not saying there isn't a difference, but nothing huge. If you have a jdm b16a..170hp vs a usdm gsr 170 hp, and the gsr has more torque. Stock for stock, same driver, the gsr will win. End of discussion, moving on, back to this guy's question.

i wasnt meaning to get it out of hand but just defending the b16's. anyways boost is in the future... that all i have to offer. unless u would rather spend 3k on cams, IM,TB, valvetrain, header, and still be about the same a a type r.
