Differences in Spring Rates for Track and AutoX?
What are people's thoughts for the difference in spring rates for a car used on the track and a car used primarily for autox? Do you want softer rates for an autox car?
There are a couple of factors that effect this, but from what I have seen, road race guys run springs that are a little stiffer that autocross setups for the same given car. I think some of this has to do with the fact that most autocross cars are driven to the track and most road race cars are trailered, allowing them to run really stiff stuff and not have to worry about killing their kidneys on the street. I know what when I start trailering my car to autoX event, that I'm going stiffer on the springs.
Another reason RR cars might run a stiffer suspension is due to the higher cornering speeds encountered on a road course.
