need help ASAP. how to take out the alternator?
i need to change my alternator for my 91 sedan civic DX. but i cant find a way to take it out. what do you guys do? please, i need help ASAP. my mechanic says that the only way to take it out is to take the driver side axle. is this sound right or is there a secret passage? your help is very much appreciated.
you dont need to take anything off but maybe the drivers side wheel..make sure you disconnect your battery so you dont get sparked..
the bottom bolt of the lower alternator bracket needs to come out, not sure of the size. then the two bolts on the bracket on top...you need 2 wrenches- a 12mm and a 14mm and slide it under the intake manifold out the other side..
no need to take axles, brake master cylinder off..just a waste of time

i just changed mine 3 weeks ago,,the way i did it was unscrew it, and move it over so you can pull it out by the charcoal canister. Second time i've done this and it was a piece of cake. I had to take off my speedodemeter cable to get it out.
my bad the 2 14mm bolts is from my EK. but when i had my HB i just dropped the bracket and it squezzed right through between the oil pan and chassis.
