DOHC ZC's have the strongest Dseries rods out there. Like any motor, how you tune it is going to decide what it can do without givin out. I've personally revved several ZC's to 8k, and amazingly they have always seemed to pull fairly well to there on stock cams.

Get the right turbo, get it tuned well by someone professionally and 250+whp is easily possible.
