Help vtec!
Vtec is suppose to pop around 6.5-7k rpms. It dose, Only every once in a while. Could a dinged up oil pan be the cause of that? Or maby its because my car is running to lean? i am Trying to save up for hondata/tune. looking at about $900 for both hondata&tune. Oh ya the car is a 1990 hatch civic si With a jdm B16aswap b16ecu b16tranny. The car is not low on oil. But its throwing the tps code and the speed cable code.
Umm.....vtec doesn't "pop" or "kick" or any of that ricer bullshit. If it is working correctly, you shouldn't even be able to tell when it engages.
And unless I'm mistaken, it should engage around 5.5k if it's done correctly.

I have a CRX with a B16 you ricer. And if you have your toolbox of a car chipped for it to engage at 6.5 then no wonder you are having problems.
Holy ****.

we did, fix your 2 codes then go from there, Clean your vtec Solenoid screan? Don't you need the speedo to be funtioning for the Vtec? I had my VSS go out in the cluster and it would cut in and out, till I changed out the cluster.
Why do you want to tune it with Hondata? Isn't it basically stock? ****, don't bother paying that much for tuning.
VTEC will NOT engage with a VSS code, and probably not with a TPS code. Get your **** fixed.

Yes the motor other than the gsr cam gear its stock. What chip/ program should i go with for this stock motor ? But i plan to buy So really decent bolt ons. intake manifold, 4-1 headers, Hi performance fuel pump etc. Oh ya lol would useing a stock 90 civic fuel pump be a bad idea ? Because thats what im using atm.
The fuel pump should be fine, if its working correctly, the program in your ecu and the codes its throwing are your answers.
Get the ecu set back to stock. With no supporting mods, you are just hurting performance and mileage.
Make sure your TPS and VSS are fixed.
And yes, a dented up oil pan can affect oil pressure if it is not getting enough at the pickup. And vtec depends on oil pressure.
Take that 900 in tuning and hondata, and put it in suspension.

Can the motor become damaged if vtec isnt engaing? running front skunk2 coil overs, rear tokico blues, front after markter sway bar upper lower, rear upper lower sway bars, and skunk2 rear control arms. I looking to buy new shocks and lowering springs stiffer ride wouldn't it be?
Never cheap out on suspension. That is the MOST important thing on your car.
Get quality parts...(shocks/struts and springs)........Tokico blues are only stock repacement. Get the illuminas or Koni sport.
Vtec not engaging wont hurt anything...but you wont be getting the benefit either.
