Default Can I go lower on 18's??

Kinda new to this but i put some 18's on my Integra GS 1993...it looks like 25 inches from ground to the top of the wheel well is all i have for space...can i lower the car on 18's? Does anyone have any knowledge on this pic of my wheels below. I just think its sits up a little high..kinda giving the appearance of a hot wheels car...haha Not really the look i was going for.

As you have discovered, 18" tires aren't made in sizes for the Integra. The smallest commonly available 18" tire size is 215/35-18, which is over 3 percent larger in diameter than your stock size of 195/60-14. If you want to lower your car, I suggest getting smaller wheels, so you can use tires with the same outer diameter as your stockers (205/40-17 on 17", 215/45-16 or 205/45-16 on 16", etc).

I think it's funny when you see someone spending a lot of money on bling-bling big-*** wheels and then going and putting crappy Nexen tires on them!

They're not even all that great of knock-off wheels, either.

Yeah, that's kind of obvious.

What you need is to replace parts in the suspension to lower your car. The easiest, cheapest way to do this is to replace the springs. More expensive is to get a full coilover setup. You can lower the car anywhere from an inch to two inches and you shouldn't run into any problems, but don't go any lower than that. You might want to ask folks in the Integra forum for suggestions on specific parts for your car.

Then, get the proper size wheels and tires for your car, which is NOT 18's. I think 16's look nice with 205/45-16 or 215/45-16 tires. The absolute largest wheels and tires you should put on the car are 17" wheels with 205/40-17 tires.

so i guess Tork wheels are knock-off wheels? lol, funny.

to be honest, these looked better on my red one. they havent grown on me that much on this car. there were some 2 peice 5-zigen wheels i was looking at the other day. might pick those up.

OP, slam that ****.

I think i will leave it at stock heiight with the 18's on there...I am older and just not intrested in bouncing down the road anymore like highschool. I want a nice comfortable, smooth ride to work with a sporty look..thats all really. Is there any issues with running 18's (weight wise) on the little integras? I am running 205/40/18's Lexanis on the Enkei Hyperblack Rims and they are heavier then what came off. I am not intrested in dumping my tranny or going through brakes every 25,000 miles. I can take a noraml turn on the exit ramp of the interstate and squeal them bad boys like i am doing a hundred..it sticks to the road like glue with those on there.

to lower it smaller tires would definitley help since the tires are going to take alot more clearence you could use for lowering, you must be able to do like 70 in first gear with tires that big

Then you should get smaller diameter wheels. The large wheels, particularly 18", have tires with short sidewalls that look cool and may handle well, but they result in a harsh ride quality. Since you're looking for a more comfortable ride, get smaller wheels, anywhere from 14" (195/60-14) to 15" (195/55-15 or 205/50-15) or 16" (205/45-16 or 215/45-16). Don't go any larger than 16" if you're looking for ride comfort.

okay thx...maybe you know of someone in Atlanta that is looking to trade up to 18's? I know as stupid as that sounds, but I would flat out trade for some 15s or 16s wheel and tire package for what i got.

what kind of cost would i be looking at to lower mine down on the 18's? Looks like i could only go maybe 2 to 3 inches all the way around. pics are at the top of this thread.

Ask in the suspension forum, or in the Integra forum. This forum is for wheels and tires.

And I still think you're foolish for getting 18" wheels, based on what you've said you're interested in. If you are really interested in ride comfort, like you say you are, lowering your car is a bad idea, too. If you want ride comfort, the larger wheels and lowered suspension are going to hurt the ride comfort. If you like that look, with the lowered suspension and the bling-bling big-*** wheels, go for it, but both changes are going to make the ride comfort worse, not better.
