Default running to rich and check engine light.. Please help??

Could somebody please help me out? This is my first honda, and i dont know much about them.. i can smell through the exhaust system that my car is running to rich... but if i get on the freeway and drive for like 3 or 4 miles.. and drive it kinda fast, as soon as i start to slow down to stop.. my check engine light comes on, then if i'm in like 4th gear and go to accelerate, the car doesn't wanna go, unless i slam the pedal to the floor.. can somebody please give me a little bit of advice? it is a zc 1.6.. all that it has done is a cold air intake.. i believe.. thanks, rob... p.s. and if i shut the car off, and then start it again, the check engine light is off until i do what i said and it comes on again??

pull back the carpet on the passenger side - the ECU is located in the passenger footwell - the ECU has a red LED that will be flashing to tell you the trouble code - it will flash then pause and flash, then pause, etc. - count the number of times it flashes between pauses and that will be the code - it is probably the O2 sensor which will just flash once, pause, flash once, etc. - after you get things sorted out, you need to reset the ECU to clear the codes - you do that by removing the hazard fuse in the underhood fuse box for about 20 seconds or so and then replace it

it could have more than one code showing, in which case it will flash the first, pause, flash the next, pause and so on - once it goes thru them, it will start all over again

more than likely the o2...i had the exact same symptoms w/ my zc because of where the o2 was located in my downpipe...it wasnt warming up fast enough for the ecu so i had to run a heated o2

My rex has this same problem. Its also a code 1 which was oxygen content when I checked the manual. I'm going to change mine today and we'll see what happens.

believe it or not it feels like mine runs better when the cel comes on...my heated o2 only fixed the problem for like 15 miles then it threw the code again...i guess i dont understand why mine does it, but i usually tool around for a few minutes till the light comes on n then go about my business
