hi

are the stock shock absorbers on a del sol oil or gas... im trying to determine if my shocks are aftermarket or stock...

they say they are gas ... and on the sticker they say "lipg----something" cant see past the brake...


any help would be awesome

Stock shocks will be black body without any "gas" writing or stickers on them.

Stockers usually have a stamping or white markings indicating the part number, such as "SR3" on the main body, etc.

Exactly what are you trying to determine if the shocks are stock or not?

 

yeh, im trying to find out if the shocks on my car are standard or aftermarket...

i think they are aftermarket, because they are gas...

iv bought some (dont hate me for saying this) coilover sleeves and springs, to go around them... and everyone on delsolownersclub.co.uk says that putting them on stock shocks would ultimatley end in the shocks brakeing cos they arntmade to cope with the low ride...

but they say if they are aftermarket ones they should be ok, providing that they were designed to accomodate the lowering springs.

 

anyone else have any idea?

 

put them on and even if they are stock shocks they should last a year or two at which time put after market shock on. problem solved

 

or real coilovers

What brand coil over sleevs are you getting?

I'm not one of these huge JDM full coil-over nut riders that says all coil-over sleeve+shock combos suck, but there are some REALLY shitty coil over sleeves sets out there to avoid.
