Hi everyone, my name is Ralph and im pretty new to the import scene... I've been a hot rodder growing up building muscle cars and hot rods but i just purchased my first import (its my commuter)... its a 98 Civic LX sedan... anyone got pics of their sedans? i got some ideas on how to make it look slick and clean but i havent seen to many of them fixed up...
here is a pic of my non import...
and crappy cell pic of my import...
i hope to learn a lot from this site and hopefully turn my grandma mobile looking civic into something decent....

Welcome to HT. Nice to see someone else fixing up a sedan. Mine is a 94 though. I'm only going for a rear and front lip on mine but only after I finish my suspension work. Try looking for pics of other sedans in the Appearance/Cosmetic section if you need any ideas. Best wishes with your car.

If he wanted his '98 LX to look like the car above, he'll also need a replacement trunk, spoiler (that's the '99-'00 sedan spoiler) and paint the trim, door handles, sideskirts, plate garnish and mirrors. Then he'd need to paint or replace the silver door trim. Not to mention the rear lip (the rear bumper of '99-'00 coupe/sedans is different along the bottom in comparison to the '96-'98 coupe/sedans too).
Oh, and the mud guards aren't supposed to be painted and imo don't really look right. They're incredibly flexible too, so I wouldn't be surprised if they end up chipping, especially since the car is lowered. Oh, and the overseas mirrors, sidemarkers, CTR headlights, hood emblem, etc.
The front end conversion, in particular, is likely worthless to him if this is just going to be a daily driver. He will need to replace the entire front end. That is, the front bumper, hood, fenders, grille and headlights plus either replace or modify the core support. Then there's the front lip that you added and the upper grille isn't a sedan grille (the coupe/hatch grille is one design - thought the Si grille is different too).
Plus all the other things about that car. It's originally RHD and is not a conversion. I'm betting this based on the antenna placement. Civics have antennas on the driver's side, besides in the US the '99-'00 sedans had them in the rear window, except for the GX (which is very rare and is a CNG vehicle).
I'd really strongly suggest to the OP that he start looking at other Civics. NOT JUST SEDANS!
And eventually he'll be able to piece together a decent daily driver. Seeing as he owns a 2G Camaro that looks good, I don't think there's a big chance of him ending up with a riced out econobox. At least not in the sense of neons, altezzas and body kits.
OP, I'm not sure how much you're interested in upgrading your Civic, but if you want a little more guts for it, you might want to look into a D16Y8 from a '96-'00 EX (1.6L SOHC VTEC, compared with your D16Y7 1.6L SOHC non-VTEC). You also might be interested in a turbo.
And for further info, many on this site will refer to your car by it's chassis code, which is EJ6. This can be found in the VIN as the fourth through sixth digits. This simply means it's a '96-'00 (6th gen) Civic with the D16Y7. This also includes the DX coupe, sedan and hatch, the CX hatch, the DX sedan and the VP/SE/DX-V sedan.

thats pretty nice... i think i'm just going to put some coilovers, lip kit, paint the side moldings, door handles, mirrors to match, smoke tint the windows, install a type r grill, and get a different set of taillights... like these...

There are OEM taillights you can get, which will look better than aftermarket ones. I know the model in Japan called the Integra SJ has the taillights you're looking for, but I'm not sure if an easier to find model might have them. The Integra SJ is not related to our US Integra and is actually based off of the '96-'98 Civic sedan.
There are three different OEM front lips that will fit your car stock, and one for the rear stock. The front lips are the Type R lip, SiR lip and the OEM coupe lip. The rear lip is the OEM coupe lip. Coupe rear bumpers and rear lips will fit your car. All '96-'98 front ends are the same.
If you get a lip kit which is painted, I would highly suggest you paint your sideskirts to match the body too.

yep... unlike those muscle cars most bumpers, hoods, fenders, etc. are interchangable for certain "generations" of civics. What kind of motor setup are you running in that 70 (i think) camaro? if you dont mind. my dads got a 70 chevelle w/ 355 built out making 500 at the wheels.
i dont want to thread jack.... urgh

The rear bumpers on '96-'00 Civic coupes and sedans are all interchangeable. The '99-'00 rear bumpers have a slight "lip" towards the bottom edge which the '96-'98s do not have. It is not a removable lip, but rather a little piece of the bumper that just juts out a bit.
If you want a '99-'00 front bumper, you're going to have to change the front bumper, headlights, grille, hood, fenders and either replace or modify the core support. The core support is held on with bolts and welds.

sounds like ur dad has a nice beast! i have an original Z28 LT1 with Edlebrock Performer Intake, Edelbrock Carb, Flowmaster Exhaust, 17" Boyd Coddington Wheels... pushes 360hp... nothing fancy, its been my daily driver for 10 years... but now that i have the civic, i can actually tear it all apart and re-restore it!
