Would it be better just to get a short shifter or what if you took your shifter **** off and cut it and re threaded it? would it mess up anything?

Dude, no. Get a real short shifter. Actually get an aftermarket shift **** (which will sit lower). Spoon is nice and low. If you want it even shorter, then get the SS.

for hacked "less tall" shifter.

Like I said, get the **** first and see if you like it. I had a SS on my Accord but the throw was probably twice as long stock as my EP. I like the feel of my EP with the Spoon **** and stock linkage. Lots of people have linkage problems with short shifters.

I'm gonna "cut" my shifter in my dc5 when I get the time. Take it to a machine shop, they can do it for $20 or so. It wont have any negative effects. People have been doing this for years. I'm not doing this to make the throws shorter, I just like a lower sitting shifter. Look into countersunk shiftknobs. Mine shortened the shifter by almost an inch.

Why would you want it to sit lower in the first place? The EP shifter is already shorter than RSX-S shifter. It would be too close to the dash and look obnoxious if you did a hack job. Bottom line, do not cut it.

lol, this thread cracks me up. As suggested, just put a 'shorter' **** on your OEM shifter (like a Spoon, Mugen, etc).

I would tell folks how to cleanly do a DIY cut and do it right, but by some of the replys here I'm afraid to offer up any suggestions.
