ok so i just dropped a stock d16z6 into my eg si (replacement motor). and it all starts up fine and everything, but my oem temperature gauge doesn't work, and i think its over heating.

the top rad hose gets really hot, the bottom one only gets warm. quite a bit cooler than the top one, but not completely cool.

could this mean my water pump is shot?

motor burns no oil or coolant. and i just replaced the thermostat....

A) why could the temp gauge not work?
B) why is the bottom pipe cooler than the top?

i checked the factor coolant temp sensor for resistance, its consistant with what it should be....

 

i also have to add, that it always runs in cold mode, aka hard on fuel, running super rich, NO vtec engaging.....i tried a different ecu..didn't help the issue..

either the thermostat is faulty or your coolant temp sensor plug is out or the sensor faulty.

if its not engaging vtec and running cold i'd go with the second

 

May I ask how you know that the car is overheating?

 

well there is no coolant being circualted and the top pipe gets hotter than i can handle to touch....notice how i said i THINK its over heating. i'm going to try to replace the coolant temp sensor...its just weird that the gauge and the ecu and the fan coolant sensors would all go at the same time.

almost immediately after the car is started the cooling fan comes on...

 

as with my post above check the thermostat isnt stuck shut
