Default can i drive my turbo car with VSS CEL on, limp mode?

set up

95 gsr
greddy kit
440/450cc tuner toy injectors
tuned on crome
hi flow cat
apexi ws2 exhaust
godspeed aluminum full size radiator
exedy stage 2 clutch

ok sorta long story.

old motor blew due to a bad previous turbo install (only lasted 10 miles,
so i had my shop install a new gsr longblock, the greddy turbo kit, clutch, radiator etc. they basically fixed it to where my car was finally running again.
i got the car back, its my first turbo car but seemed to be running fine for the most part. i did notice that the car would run cold a majority of the time, the needle would be either 1/4 or at C. sometimes at normal operating temp but would go back down quick. driving the car from a stop in first gear it also kinda shuddered, like wheel hop or something? but i thought it was the clutch since i never had a upgraded clutch before. also sometimes my speedometer would go to 0 when im driving, but would come back on after a few minutes.

turbo seemed to be working fine, but terrible gas mileage. 200 average to a full tank.

finally decided to change the thermostat a few days ago. was a bitch, but i managed to change it out. car seems to stay at operating temp so i guess that was the problem. after that, car seemed to drive a little smoother from a stop and first gear. so i guess it wasnt running right when it was operating cold?

anyways, so my speedometer stays at 0 now, and then my CEL code 17 VSS comes on. i think the VSS is really dead this time as the speedometer hasnt come back on, but with the CEL on, i think the car feels slightly sluggish compared to before? also i think the mileage is getting hit again.

anyways, is it ok to run my car with the CEL on? cause that means its in limp mode and running rich right?

yes its ok drive but i would stay out of boost till you get your issues resolved just to be safe. check your speed sensor, if you have a early 90's honda there will be a cable going into your trannny at the top near the back of it. same location for an electronic sensor, check the connection for either that is usually the problem, if its a cable the people that worked on it last probably didnt put it in right or put the clip in that holds it, seen that happen too many times
