Gutted the "cat'" on my friends CB7..

 

& its got a leak... Why would this happen?
BTW. Here in Charlotte used factory catalytic converters are worth 120$
150$ for the big ones... The guts by themselves = $15.00/Per LB.
I was thinking about gutting mine but heard it messes up back pressure
and besides i'd rather just weld a pipe in place and get my 120$

 

did you tighten it up all the way? did you use any gaskets or liquid gasket (the kind that turns into a type of ceramic sealant)?? are there any holes in the CAT?? how are we supposed to know why it's leaking? are YOU sure it's leaking?

should either just leave the CAT alone cause you aren't gaining anything by gutting it, or buy a test pipe or a high flow CAT. but regardless the gains are minimal and all you get is exhaust smell in your car, obnoxious noise and possibly a CEL if you have the 2ndary O2 sensor

 

we didnt use any liquid gasket thats probably why.
im pretty sure we tightened it down but it sounds leaky
