Default ? about blox intake manifold on stock gsr

ive asked this question a couple of time but its hard to get straight answers.
if im running on an ecu that does not support iab's but i have a stock gsr intake manifold, you would think the iab's would restrict flow because they are never opened and if i get the blox mani it will eliminate this problem and allow better flow, am i wrong?
and would a chipped ecu help any if i got the manifold. i just dont wanna go back to a p72 ecu if im gonna upgrade later anyway.

basicly my question is if i have a blox intake manifold on an internally stock gsr with bolt ons, would a chipped ecu fix the loss of low end power because the blox doesnt have secondaries????

No a chipped ecu won't fix low end power loss when changing from gsr IM (a proper tune will help but not significantly). If you want good low end torque under vtec stick with stock gsr manifold, if you want power gains in vtec a blox or skunk2 or something will sort you out.

In my opinion the stock secondaries are more for fuel efficency when crusing than anything, I don't care about power gains/loss at 3000rpm...

And i don't know if USDM b18c's are the same as JDM in this respect, but my stock b18c IM had the secondaries OPENED by default, as my ecu was for a b16a. So your lossing the low end torque from the secondaries as it is anyway

A2_8U kinda said it....

But

If by upgrading you mean building the motor in the future, then your best bet would be going with your preferred aftermarket IM. If doing so a good custom chip may give you slightly better high-end gains at best if your lucky (save your money). But don't forget air-in/air-out.

If you really want to build, get everything you need matched with a proper tune.
