HELP! VAFC install killed my car! =(
ok first of all, today sucked ***. first, my tire blew out 1 block away from the toys 4 tots car show in california speedway. second, i couldn't get an alignment done at just tires cuz my car was too low. and now, the VAFC install killed my car. here's what happened:
I recently purchased a VAFC I w/ a PnP harness from a person who owns a 97-01 prelude. he said everything works fine and all before he removed it and sold it to me. first i unplugged the negative battery terminal, and all i had to do was connect the ECU wires into the PnP harness, and connect the PnP harness to the ECU...so that took like 5 minutes...
...so after i put everything back together, i wanted to see if the VAFC would light up properly. normally, the VAFC would light up on accessory mode right? (even though the car's not running) well, the VAFC didn't light up. so, i tried starting it to see if that's the problem. car didn't start. battery/alternator/starter works perfectly. the car cranks and it wants to turn over, but it doesn't want to start or something. i removed the VAFC and took out both battery terminals to see if that'll fix the problem...and it didn't. what's the problem?
-car has half tank of gas left
-car started up perfectly fine before i installed the vafc
-oil's still good
-timing belt is good
-distributor and coil's still good
...is my ecu fried?
thanks everyone in advance

Hard to say without being able to look at your fuse box.

sounds like a wiring problem... double check the harness to make sure they're on the ECU pins? Does the pump still prime?
worst case scenario = you'll have a fuse to replace, and you'll rewire that "PnP" harness.

I had this problem a few weeks ago while doing some ECU wiring. I blew a fuse in the under-dash box. According to the Helm's manual, it's "#4 ACG-S (10A)". Start with that one, #4, also check the #2 fuse (starter) and the fuel pump fuse under the hood. If it's none of those, pull every fuse you can find to try and find a blown one.

The VAFC will not receive power until the ignition is switched to on. Also did you initilize the VAFC when you installed it? It is important for the VAFC to have a clean slate on a new install. Go to Apexi's website, the user manuals are avaliable for download and have detailed wiring diagrams that will inform you if it is wired correctly. But for sure, check all the fuses first.

if its not a fuse try adding a ground to the chassis for the VAFC. sounds wierd but i had this same issue and by chance i thought it might help and i did. might not be your issue but if nothing else works its worth a try.
