Default Best Motor Mount Kit???

I was wondering what the best motor mount kit is for the 4th gen prelude? I also was trying to find this specific company that offered some daily driver motor mount kits and some "racing/track use" motor mounts (although some people would still use them on the street.) I looked into the explicit speed performance mounts but I think that some people complained about the holes being to small for the bolts or something like that. The Innovative mounts also look too stock or kind of "weak". Does anyone make billet mounts for the prelude? The mounts will also go on an H23A1. Thanks

It is going to be used mainly for street use but I don't mind if the car shakes a lot. I don't really have any huge power mods (mainly bolt ons) but I just want a damn mount kit. I just want the car to feel stiffer I guess?

Pffffffffffff....what are you talking about? Innovative mounts are excellent and not weak at all. I have them on my 4th gen and they are very strong. Just because they're not shiny you think they are weak?

Explicit mounts are also very good (no problem with the holes, those were the old Innovative mounts) and no one makes billet mounts for Preludes.

I guess you are saying that Innovative motor mounts are better than ESP mounts?

No, I don't recall saying that....

I have Innovative mounts and they excellent, but I do not have the Explicit mounts so I can't compare them side by side. I'm sure either will work fine for you considering your engine is mostly stock.

I said that they look weak or whatever because I saw that their website just said that the parts were just "Prelude Replacement Mount Kits" and nothing about high performance or whatever you want to describe it as. I also guessed that you thought Innovative mounts were better because you said they were excellent and the others are very good. But whatever, not here to argue, just get some information. Also, do you have the $10 upgrade to "track" version mounts or the regular ones? How does it feel?

I think they mainly say replacement mounts because they do a lot of engine swap mounts and these are just stock upgrades.

The only thing you really need to understand is that they have 3 different styles of bushings, the red, the black and the gray. They are each a different stiffness and you just pick the one you want...I have the black ones (in the middle) because they said the gray is like a solid mount and that's too much for a daily driver.

Here's my install thread if that helps at all: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1714189

I like the black ones too but I haven't tried the other ones. My only complaint is that there isn't a front mount and they tell you that you don't need it . If you making any significant amount power, three mounts is just not enough. I've already had charge pipes pop off and my manifold burned a hole in my hood.

Are you talking about the Innovative Mounts? If so, they do make a front mount.

Hopefully I can install a full Innovative mount set before the beginning of the season.

I know this doesnt help much since your a 4th gen but on my 5th gen I had the ESP mounts (he used my mounts to do the prototype). The welds were great, really good. However the fitment wasnt good I had to make holes bigger to make them fit and then in the end I couldnt get them to fit. This was with red bushings. Anyway I have innovative mounts now with gray inserts. First off all the holes lined up, which I was happy about. It took alittle manuvering to get them to fit but I got them in and im happy as of yet. I havent really driven the car yet because of some issues but just judging by the fitment and quality of the mounts Im happy.

How hard was it to install the innovative rear mount in your 5th gen? Did you have to remove the IM?

I just removed the air intake and TB. It took alittle prying and pivoting of the motor. I also needed to use a swivel on the bolt furthest to the drivers side. Have a few extensions also. You also dont want to toque everything down till everything is caught. Catch your bolts first then torque them down. But Im using the gray inserts (85a) which are the stiffest so they have the littlest amount of play. If your running less stiff inserts then it may be alittle easier.

Is the engine vibration from the gray inserts tolerable for daily driving? Any reason why you opt for the gray ones over the black ones? And do you have the innovative front mount?

havent really driven it yet im having some problems with the ckp. So i couldnt tell you now. Ill let you know when its being driven. I got the 85a because I dont drive the car every day and vibration doesnt bother me, if it ends up vibrating alot. The cars purpose if basicly for me to have fun and drive to car meets and things on the weekend. And no I dont have the front mount because im running a camp1320 header.

im running the gray innovative mounts in my 4th gen daily driven. I dont have the front mount. The vibration is tolerable. When i first put them in i didnt like it at all. its been almost a month now i believe and they have settled down a good bit. that or ive just gotten used to them. Ive just noticed either my driving has been sucking or the mounts make it a lil stiffer on the engagement on the clutch (exedy stage 2) the chatter + mount vibration is enough to make you go crazy at times lol.

I was thinking of just using the regular 75A mounts for my track car, but now you've got me thinking about doing the 85A "race" mounts.

I am just concerned about too much vibration causing cracking in the aluminum where the engine mounts bolt to the block.

I might be looking into these soon also. I might just replace the front mount with the traction bar...

when you go to the traction bar there is no way to run that center beam going from the rear crossmember to where the old one was ..correct ?

Yep, I had to take mine out and I haven't really had any problems or noticed any difference...would be nice to have it back though.
