there's a lot of info on it in a post in this forum, as well as the faq. hit search, put in h23 vtec, with or without spaces.

edit: here you go.

because h23 cranks are weaker and wont handle constant high revving. its best to go aftermarket for 95mm.

weaker? um, no.

i think what you are trying to refer to is rod/stroke ratio. And its already been proven that you can still rev the **** out of the h23/f22 cranks, sorry.

rod/stroke ratio is a weak theory, imo.

the h23 crank is definately weaker. i know a couple people who have broken them in high power apps as opposed to the h22 crank

for a race motor i would go w/ aftermarket.

for a street motor i would keep the rpms conservative.

I believe I saw a thread about how to destroy a H23 VTEC or something. It has a few nice photos of a wrecked H23 crank. It was also not a half assed build from what I remember, can't recall who the lucky driver was though????

check w/ rosko, he can confirm

they tend to break while in the burnout box....its happened to a few of us

whats up roger

v gogunkergorilla v: trust me i have knowledge in this field. like i said, check w/ rosko i have a feeling he is not liking the h23 cranks either. or you could call a few pro's like the braunings. they stopped using h23 cranks when they first started out due to repetitive failures. btw, cant make anymore posts due to this trial thing, you know how it goes

If you talking about an h23 crank vs. a 98+ h22, then yes it is stronger. Your comparing 55mm mains vs 50mm, theres more material, less friction, more oil. If not, then bs. Every broken h23 crank I've heard of can be traced back to a bearing failure. If your breaking h23 cranks then you need to learn how to build a motor for high hp and high rpm.

Eh I have had pretty good luck with them once or twice . P.S. steve uses and H23 crank in his car and takes that bitch to 9,500

I guess to each his own. By the way do I know you ?

Agreed! The main thing that goes wrong if the motor is put together that is over looked is balance balance balance. When we do ours we dont just balance the crank, rods, and pistons. We also balance the crank pulley and flywheel / clutch assembly ( yes it can be done).
