K so this might seem like a dumb question my bad if so.. i just traded a 89 crx si with a ZC motor for a 94 LS teggy with GSR motor good trade ? Only bad thing is it has no exhaust would i damage the motor if i drove it like that ? And i also have a 92 4dr civic with complete exhaust would that maybe bolt on or would that be a waste of time ... The reason i dont just buy an exhaust or have one fabricated is iam having a baby here in a few weeks so iam a bit short on cash so would it bolt on or not any feed back would be good thanks guys

 

If the integra was in good condition Id say it was a good trade. The civic exhaust isnt going to fit the integra, but youre not going to hurt the car if you run with no exhaust.

 

as long as the o2 is on you should be good. jus really LOUD!

 

look under the car. simple as that. look at the bolt configuration, the length, and the bends.

you wont dammage the motor by having no exhaust, you will be loud, you may get pulled over, possibly ticketed for not having a cat, which i think is legally required (dont quote me)

i say just drive your civic till you can peice somthing together.

 

thanks bro the civic just a shell no motor lol i kept hearing bullshit about valve damage with no exhaust ?? see thats what i was guessing that it might bolt on i was just wondering if anyone had every tryed it but thanks for the input

 

i dont see how it would damage your valves. exhaust is just a bit of pipe, it only gives the air a place to go after it leaves the cylinder. i dont know how backpressure works, but running just a header will affect engine performance, i think you may gain a little top end but youll lose low-mid torque. (thats what i heard happens running open header)

anyway, if you take the cat off the civic, that may fit onto the exhaust manifold, and may make the car a bit quieter, or depending on the exhaust, you may be able to squeeze the resonator in there too by just cutting the pipe where the bends begin, and the resonator will quiet things too.

 

like they said above it wont damage ur car but it will be loud!!

 

I ran my Integra SiR-G without the backbox (muffler) for a night as an exhaust project went wrong when 2 bolts snapped.
It was very loud and the crossover was scary loud and VVEERRRYY distinct!! It was like hey, VTEC definately works!
So I can only imagine what an open header will sound like.
But it wont damage your car, just expect to be pulled in by the boys in blue.
