ball joint help
me and a buddy ran into a problem a few weeks ago, he has a 91 civic si and we ended up haveing to replace the whole spindle and knuckle assembly. we got the parts of of a da integra so they would fit the b16 axels as well as have bigger brakes. we pulled the knuckle off the car, but we left the stock upper control arm in place. well now that we are going to put the integra parts on, the stud on the balljoint will spin freely after the castlenut threads around the stud twice, so we assumed that the balljoint was bad. We tried bolting the lower ball joint up and it does the same thing, then we got confused, then we tried to bolt the knuckle back up to the integra upper control arm and it does the same thing, if that doesnt make sense whenever we try to bolt the ball joint to a control arm the stud still spins freely, is there something that i dont know? of are all my ball joints bad?
thanks
thanks
kind of a common problem - put ball joint stud thru the hole in the knuckle and put the nut on - tighten the nut until it starts to spin - place prybar between the knuckle and the control arm and pry it like you are trying to pull the stud out of the hole - keeping pressure on the prybar, tighten the nut - will work a lot better if you are using air tools - you would be better off replacing the ball joints
