How can I check the main relay on a 92 Accord?

you can listen to see if the fuel pump comes on. Have someone turn the key into the on position, while listening close the the rear seats or from the trunk.

 

So, fuel pump should be on even when the starter isn't turning over?

 

yeah, if you have battery, but if your starter isn't turning over your problem is NOT your main relay, it's your starter.

 

No starter turns over.

I was trying to figure out if I can check this on my own.
e.g. turn the key so radio and windows will work and then listen for the pump.
The problem only happens rarely. So, I probably wil not have someone in the car with me when it happens again.

 

When you turn the key to the on position the fuel pump should run for about 2 seconds. I usually check the main relay for cracked solder joints.

 

Hey! I have many way to check main relay. but this good way to check by yourseft. when your car turn but not runing, you hit ( tap) on it while you crank Engine . If engnie run you need new relay. $49.00 honda part.
