just bought an rsx
after owning a 97 integra gs-r and an 02 sentra se-r spec-v for the last 4 years, i just bought an 06 rsx type-s tonight. i'll spare y'all all the stock photos... just this one.
bought it from david mcdavid acura in plano, tx. i added gap insurance and lojack and left with about $23k in financing. $0 down, 7.6% interest, 72 months isnt the best deal but hopefully rates fall and i can refi it soon (my credit score was 781 not including my new house payment). its certified-used so it has the 7-yr and 100k mile powertrain warranty and a 62k comprehensive warranty. it has an armrest too.
nice, may be checking out a type s tomorrow. which sounds better though?
05 RSX-S 37K miles - $22K
05 RSX-S 51K miles - $19K
03 RSX (base) - 51K miles $13K
they are all from acura dealerships.
i got the vin on all 3 so i can check how much i may be paying for each. but which rsx on the top would you recommend? i take care of all my cars nicely and they all drive smooth. i dont plan on racing or anything for the rsx. im only gonna use it for daily driving. also which would last longer assuming they're both taken care of well? type s or base?

used, yes. not very much though. rates right now arent the best since the credit scare in the mortgage industy. rates are hovering around 7% for a used car right now. i financed my sentra at 5.4% but that was 4 years ago when credit was easy.
when i first went to the dealership and saw the car i knew i was going to buy it. they were asking $23k and the inet price was $21.9k. well, i waited and waited for 3 weeks until the end of the month. i was really pressed for the car since my wife has an 05 civic ex se. well, they offered me $21.6k and said that was as low as they could go because they had all certified stuff done (new brake pads and all that jazz). well, they finally called me a few days before the end of the month and offered $20.9k and thats what i eventually bought the car for.
06 acura rsx type-s with 21.7k on the odo and certified used status for $20.9k is a pretty damn good deal i thought. and with the guy before posting those prices... now you have something to guage your price by.

That's the truth.
That's the truth.
You have to talk to them and make it seem like if they don't sell the car at a certain price then they will be losing out on a potential buyer. I call it the waiting game. Just like dealerships give you a BS line, you do the same thing. You have to be reasonable about your price. Tell them if they want to sell the car now then you will do it for so/so price. If not then car can sit on the lot longer and they can lose out on more money the longer it sits. EVERTHING is negotiable if you finance thru them EVERYTHING. A dealership will try and make as much money off you as they can. Everything is game from the interest rate to the extended warranty. Dealerships try to be your best friend, they try to get all buddy buddy and they can sense if you really need a car and really want the car you're looking at. You have to come across as, your not looking for a car or i always say, "If you don't want to sell me the car for this price, this is not the only vehicle in the world, i'll just gladly take my money to the next dealership and look for the car i want". It's all about negotiations. The bigger BSer will win.

nice, ill keep that tip in mind!
but i do feel sad for them trying the sell their cars. i called about 15-20 acura and honda dealerships around my area and both farout like 200 miles away and made them all look for any manual tranny rsx and to call me back with their status. sure enough they all called back at almost the same time in a 1 hour period. damn, i felt like a boss that day.

Let me give you guys some advice from someone who has sold cars. They cant "go as low as they want." When they buy the cars wheather it be from trade-in or auction they have to put a couple more hundred in it for maintainance and paperwork. They WILL NOT go lower than that. They'll just send it off to auction and sell it that day. Pretty much all used cars, exept for older models have about a $4k mark-up when they first hit the lot. If you want the best deal wait until the last day of the month ESPECIALLY if its on a Saturday! Thats when the they're stressin to make they're monthly goals. Dont be shy to haggle. But remember to be nice to your sales person. They're gunna push the sales managers alot harder to give you what you want if they like you. Gettin a car for about $3k less than asking price is pretty much normal. Anyway... hit those dealerships up guys! Good Luck!

well, my wife just bought an 07 acura tsx today. i think she walked out with a 6.79% interest rate paying $439/mo. i think the car was around $23k and had just below 7k miles. she got the carbon grey pearl so it kinda matches mine.
