I just picked this up for a member and will be installing it tommorrow. But from the looks of it. It seems to be a nice solid unit. The crazy thing in the size. You would not expect a 400 rms amp to be this small. We will see how this goes.

I think/hope you/he/she will like it. I have a PDX 4.150 in my Civic. I absolutely love it!
Currently, running a set of components and a 10"
Right now, this is all I need... except a new HU.

You should be impressed, I have done a few, it will be my amp of choice this spring when I finally add an amp to my system, keeping the Alpine CDA 7893, replacing the Eclipse 2ways with Eclipse SP6500, have a friend, [also an autocrosser] with a Civic with the Eclipse and the PDX-4.100, [but I'm sure that's what you meant], the day we installed his system was the day I decided to add the amp to my system. 94

They are small because they are more efficient. A typical amp dumps 60-70% of the power produced into the heatsink. The resulting 30-40% is what ends up at the speakers.

Build a more efficient amp and you can reduce heatsink size. There is a tradeoff though. Sound quality is reduced . That is why class D amps are usually restricted to subwoofer amplifiers only (where quality isn't as important). I'm not sure what they are using here. My guess is some version of a class D amplifier.

my friends just installed 2 pdx amps in a headliner for a customer. the headliner was custom of course and he didnt want the amps flushed for some reason (head clearance maybe?) but they look clean as fukc. the pdx that puts out 1000w rms is really small too. great units. you guys see them in the sinister 6 or the mercedes?

Well the car is done. And all I can say is wow. The amp is pushing a set of infinity ref 6x9 and infinity 61/2 componets up front. The doors are hushmatted. The only thing setting it back is that there are some entry level loc providing the signal. But it gets loud a fawx and is really clear. x over at 120hz its clear as day. amp does not heat up to bad and you can leave your hand on it while playing it at full volume for 20 mins. Yea, i abused it. Would sound so much better with a headunit or a jl audio cleansweep. I give the amp a 3 thumbs up. But I still love my mtx more, lol

These amps are very nice, I run two 4.150's and a 1.1000 in my hatch. They sound great, I compete in MECA sound quality competitions and take first the majority of the time.
