Default any problems with this year hatch

When my 03 TURBO Jetta sells at cars.com. I want to buy a b18 swap civic hatch. I heard a while back to stay away from a certain year but I can't remember. Does anyone know of this and if so any issues I should be aware of.
LATERZ.....

Where did you hear to stay away from a certain "year"?

I don't know why someone would tell you that, but you can always make your civic do whatever you want it to do. You can decide what parts you want to put in it. As far as swaps go, if you wanna look for one thats already swapped, fine thats cool...But it might be a better experience for yourself if you do it.

A coworker said that. I think he said there was a wiring problem when swaping a motor.

well the EASIEST car to swap would be a 92-95 hatch, also theyre very light, so it doesnt take much to get a 13 second 1/4 mile out of them.

but if you go with a 96-2000 hatch, you may need a obd2-obd1 jumper harness for the ECU.

Nowadays it is easy to swap any OBD style engine into any year Civic.

Other than looks, there will not be problems with any MY hatch. Note that EK (96-00) have a wider rear track, therefore cannot fit ITR LCA's (which are excellent LCA's). This is why I was looking for a 92-95 Civic (which I found and will pick up today or tomorrow).

I think I rather just buy a clean swap already done. 96-2000 with a b18c.
When does my trail end so I can start talking in the forsale/wanted forum.
5 post per day......? Thank you

i vote for 92-95 hatch, i think they look better than the EK hatch, well in the back anyway.

and theyre lighter.

All of the hatches are easy to work on (relatively speaking). Looks are subjective.

I just threw in the LCA comment, because I don't think there are many aftermarket LCA's that are of quality and price of ITR's. There aren't many disadvantages or advantages of going with one model over another, because 99% of mods that can be done on an EG can be done on an EK. However, to me, this is one that stands out between the two models.

If I were to get a hatch I would look for a 99-00. Just my preference. My <3 will always be with the 93-95 EJ1's... 95 especially

I'm a fan of the 92-95 hatches. I'd sell you mine, but you're too far away.

As soon as my Jetta sells, I'll be ready to buy. If the right deal came alog....who knows!! A nice 2 door civic or hatch? It's got to be CLEAN!!with a swapped b18c or b16 and 6 speed. I will only have $5000-$6000 cash to spend. Is that even close. If the deal was right I could travel!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So a b18c or 5 ITR has no 6 speed? ITR come with a 6 speed. If I found a ITR motor and tranny swap it should have a 6 speed. What am I missing here guys.

Yeah, no b-series ever came with a 6 speed. It's a shame too, I hate to drive down the freeway at 4k+. I plan to get an LS 5th and gearspeed carbon syncros.

Also, I too recommend the EG hatch. Just for looks tho.
